There is always light

Candlemas or Groundhog Day in Olafsfjordur was a day for celebration !

The weather was bad, which was an excellent omen.

As the old saying goes;

 For as the sun shines on Candlemas day,
 So far will the snow swirl until May.
 For as the snow blows on Candlemas day ,
 So far will the sun shine before May.

Rita was very excited about this so she decorated some candles
and she gave them to lots of different people.

This is the man who drives the school bus, a Lady passenger and Rita. The driver drives the bus between Olafsfjordur and Siglufjordur 5 times a day, you don't have to be at school to take the bus.
The bus driver is very genial which is good as the journey is not the most interesting. The journey is only 15 minutes long but most of the time you are inside the tunnel.

The Hedinsfjardartunnel was built in 2006 through the mountains, linking the two towns. They make up the municipality called Fjallbyggd, and share schools and various facilities.

No need to worry though there is always light at the end of the tunnel.

Happy Candlemas - hope your weather was rubbish on the 2nd of February.
